JESÚS "BUBU" NEGRÓN

PRÉSENTATION

Jesus Bubu Negrón est un artiste dont le travail se caractérise par une intervention minimale, une re-contextualisation des objets du quotidien, une approximation relative dans la production artistique comme acte révélateur des dimensions historiques, sociales et économiques. Negrón habite dans les environs de Puerta de Tierra à San Juan; il fait partie de la brigade PDT, une communauté pour la préservation et le bien être du quartier, de son histoire et de sa population. 

 

Depuis la finalisation de sa première résidence d’artistes avec M&M Proyectos en 2002 à Puerto Rico, le travail de Jesus Bubu  Negrón a été montré dans de nombreuses galeries et institutions dans le monde, individuellement et collectivement. Certaines de ses collaborations les plus remarquables incluent: le projet Abubuya Km0 organisé par la Galerie Kiosko en Bolivie; The Obscenity of the Jungle avec le Projet Ultravioleta dans le cadre du  SWAB Barcelona en Espagne (2013); la 1ère “Tropical Biennal” à Puerto Rico (2011), où il a reçu le prix “Golden Pineapple” du meilleur artiste; Interpretation of the Soneto de las estrellas avec Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros à Mexico (2013), organisé par Taiyana Pimentel; Trienal Poligráfica à Puerto Rico (2009), organisée par Adriano Pedrosa, Julieta González et Jens Hoffmann; Sharjah Biennial à Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (2007), organisé par Mohammed Kazem, Eva Scharrer et Jonathan Watkins; la Biennale de Whitney à New York (2006), organisée par Chrissie Iles and Philippe Vergne; la T1 Triennale de Turin en Italie (2005), organisée by Francesco Bonami and Carolyn Christov–Bakargiev, et Tropical Abstraction au Steidelijk Bureau Museum à Amsterdam (2005), organisé by Ross Gortzak.

 

Son travail a été repris dans des publications majeures, entre autres Flash Art, New York Times, Journal des Arts, LA Times, The Art Newspaper, Art Nexus, Frieze.
