Born in 1994, Ekene Stanley Emecheta is a self taught Nigerian artist. He lives and works in London and Nigeria and has had the experience of teaching art in China for 5 months. Ekene’s works are mostly figurative, rendered with oil and acrylic on canvas. His recent works focus more on human energy, personality, andidentity. Painting white over the body of his figures giving it a soulfullook, he excludes the materiality of skin color in his paintings.

His solo exhibition “Truthful Waters” hosted at The Breeder in Athens in summer 2021 was reviewed at Frieze Magazine. His works are included in the collections of X Museum in Beijing, Xiao Museum in Rizhao, China, Akzo Nobel Foundation in the Netherlands, Comma Foundation in Belgium and Up Next Art Museum in Puerto Rico.

Ekene's works have been seen in notable art fairs such as Art Basel Basel, Frieze LondonThe armory showFrieze LAFIAC and Félix Art fair.
