"In my artwork, context, specifically story, is essential. Using materials sourced from historical archives, vintage and contemporary magazines and newspapers, I cut and compose mostly intimate-sized narrative collages that describe my thoughts about the stories I’ve heard and
told about myself and others." - Christa David

It is through her meticulous assemblages, halfway between daydream and reality, that Christa translates her thoughts and feelings. The characters of her works are the bearers of words. She thus creates an archive, traveling through her personal memory to a larger collective memory. In this way, she contributes to give visual form to these stories that she tries to transmit.
