Hyacinthe Ouattara’s blue canvases explore the natural movement of ink, allowing it to flow freely across the surface without human interference. This approach invites reflection on our relationship with nature, its untamable forces, and our perceived control over it: who are we to dominate what surrounds us? Indigo blue, sourced from the indigo plant, becomes more than just a color—it’s a living material, a spiritual tool, and a cosmic force. This vibrant shade, often associated with introspective rituals, encourages a journey inward where vision transforms into sound and colors resonate like music. It opens a window to the horizon, embodying a constant motion that shifts with time, full of variations, brilliance, and imperfections. By celebrating the dynamic, ever-changing nature of blue, the artist moves beyond universal themes to embrace the world’s complexity, creating a space where painting and nature exist in an ongoing, harmonious dialogue.
