What if the obsession with the self was finally the key to key to understanding others?

Through a relationship with the body that is omnipresent in her work, transforming her skin into a canvas and his narcissism into a paintbrush, John Yuyi confronts the gaze of the Other. Our individualities and connections fascinate the artist.
Her obsessive study of the Self is thought of as a way to connect with the Other and to heal his own neuroses. Her crazy vision of our world is revealed in the exhibition Yuyi's Bodies, which offers a plural vision of John Yuyi, alter ego of the artist.
Her strange relationship to the world, in a constant quest for approval, is thus confronted with the impossibility of putting the artist in a box.
Works
Born in 1991, John Yuyi is a Taiwanese visual artist based in New York who uses the Internet and social networks as both premise and platform for her creative work. She graduated from Shih Chien University with a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design. She explores the themes of life and the moment that she and other human beings are living at the moment, which happen to be mainly taken over by social networks and the internet. Her works reflect her emotions and bipolar disorder, as well as the feeling of modern society through daily observation and sensitive sensing of other people's emotions. His best-known means of expression is temporary tattooing.
