Overview
Rafael Domenech (born in 1989) invests Passerelle Centre d'art contemporain for his first exhibition in France. He settled in New York a few years ago after leaving Cuba, his native island, for Miami. Finishing his studies at Columbia University, he was deeply marked by the teachings of his artist and friend professor, Rirkrit Tiravanija, a champion of relational aesthetics. This concept does not specifically designate a group of artists but a way of conceiving art in relation to others. Domenech fits into this reflection of a participatory and engaging art to the public. His works are thus architectures to be inhabited or sculptures to be manipulated and are interested in the social fabrics and history of a territory.
