The Hair Salon space is inspired by familiar scenes from the street—makeshift outdoor salons where hairdressers set up their stations in public spaces informally recognized and frequented by local women. Like other installations in the NOIRES series, the floor is covered in earth or sand, and loose electrical wires hang from above, visually linking the piece to the surrounding street environment.

The setup includes two chairs: one for the stylist, one for the client. Nearby, a painted plastic crate holds a calabash filled with hair essentials—combs, creams, oils, gel, and decorative beads. Bundles of colorful synthetic hair from the Expression brand are laid out, ready to use.

In front of the client’s chair stands a mirror, propped up with found bricks. On the back, the artist has painted her signature sun motif. The space evokes a familiar scene of everyday care—raw, practical, and full of memory.
