Plot for Sale is a striking encapsulation of the expanding and continuous city. The ever expanding demarcations of land claim nature as property. The developing Indian city’s periphery is a margin of expansion and displacement. Elements such as the barbed wire fence create a “piece” of land that empties out the geographical and ecological elements. Though, some elements at the margins disrupt this continuing, seemingly endless fence. The anthills act as a counterpoint to claims of habitation symbolized by the mat placed at the center. As if rising from the mat, the bird taking off is sky bound almost perpendicularly from the plot. The flight of escape is one from the anthropocentric transformations of nature. These multiplicities of negotiation at the margins offer varied observations and elements to reflect on.
