Et si l’obsession du soi était finalement la clé pour comprendre les autres ?
Par un rapport au corps omniprésent dans son travail, transformant sa peau en toile et son narcissisme en pinceau, John Yuyi se confronte au regard de l’Autre. Nos individualités et nos connexions fascinent l’artiste.
Son étude obsessionnelle du Moi se pense comme un moyen de se rattacher à l’autre et de soigner ses propres névroses. Sa vision folle de notre monde se dévoile au coeur de l’exposition Yuyi’s Bodies, qui offre une vision plurielle de John Yuyi, alter ego de l’artiste.
Sa relation étrange au monde, dans une quête constante d’approbation, se confronte ainsi à l’impossibilité de ranger l’artiste dans une case.
Œuvres
Born in 1991, John Yuyi is a Taiwanese visual artist based in New York who uses the Internet and social networks as both premise and platform for her creative work. She graduated from Shih Chien University with a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design. She explores the themes of life and the moment that she and other human beings are living at the moment, which happen to be mainly taken over by social networks and the internet. Her works reflect her emotions and bipolar disorder, as well as the feeling of modern society through daily observation and sensitive sensing of other people's emotions. His best-known means of expression is temporary tattooing.
