So follow those legs to 193 Gallery! We’re big fans of the Legs Series, a unique body of work by Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj (born in 1961) who, after capturing Marrakech’s scooter-riding fauna, continues his playful take on traditional portraiture—this time, from the ground up—framing his photographs with everyday materials. His signature pop colors are still present: here, hand-painted recycled tires and plastic mats elevate vibrant green-and-orange socks, symbolic fabrics, and branded babouches from the Maghreb. It’s a joyful blend of textures drawn from the visual language of urban culture.
193 Gallery is also presenting a debut exhibition by Cuban-born American artist Rafael Domenech (born in 1989), curated by Jérôme Sans.
