Nairobi dans Vibrant Pop Snapshots

Nairobi is still very young: the Kenyan capital is barely more than a century old, yet it pulses with the energy of youth. That same vibration fuels the camera of Thandiwe Muriu, a 34-year-old artist whose work is now shown in galleries in Paris, New York, and San Francisco. Coming from the country’s rising middle class, she draws inspiration from the cultural diversity of her city. Her portraits of women playful, pop-inflected, and exuberant, subvert clichés, challenge lingering conservatisms, and assert her identity as a modern African woman.
