The Venetian outpost, opened on the occasion of the 2024 Biennale Arte, is the most recent chapter of a project aimed at bringing voices from the Global South into the symbolic arenas of contemporary art. The current exhibition, Bricks and Grids, curated by Miriam Bettin, stages a dialogue between the works of Zoila Andrea Coc-Chang and Modou Dieng Yacine, weaving together narratives of the diaspora and reflections on architecture as a political space. It is no coincidence that 193 Gallery chose Venice, a crossroads of memory and passage, as the site for this new stronghold.
