Biography

Yoann Estevenin is a multidisciplinary artist working across drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and wood. His practice gives rise to hybrid, expressive figures shaped by material and surface, infused with symbols, colors, and ornamentation. Faces and bodies become sites of transformation, where form is constantly shifting and evolving.

Balancing the intimate and the mythological, his work draws on a broad and intuitive visual language informed by diverse mythologies, magic, cinema, poetry, and popular culture. Wood, clay, and fire play a central role in his practice. Fire, in particular, is used as a drawing and transformative tool, leaving burns, marks, and unexpected traces that become integral to the narrative of each work. Human, animal, and vegetal forms intersect, revealing an instinctive relationship with the living world, where nature functions as a space of ritual, projection, and imagination.
He graduated from the Fine Arts School of Montpellier and the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2018, where he received jury honors and the Friends of the Beaux-Arts of Paris Award. His work has been supported through several residencies, notably at Fondation Carmignac and Moly Sabata. In 2021, his first monograph was published with texts by Christian Lacroix, and his practice was featured in a documentary portrait broadcast on Arte.
His work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe, including at the Musée Fabre, Palacio Cadaval, and the Salon de Montrouge. His works are held in both public and private collections, including the Beaux-Arts de Paris, the Bonlieu Art Library in Annecy, and the Daniel and Florence Guerlain Foundation. In 2024, the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, acquired a group of his monumental sculptures.
