Nocturnal Watchers is a series of fifteen drawings inspired by the iconic wildlife of Colorado’s mountains and the Aspen region. More than a bestiary, it imagines a community of silent presences inhabiting a world where reality and dreams merge.

Each animal becomes the site of an encounter. With their almost human gaze, these figures reveal an inner life rather than simply depicting a species, inviting viewers to recognize a shared sensitivity, memory, and emotion across the boundary between humans and animals.

Set beneath imagined night skies of shooting stars, northern lights, and luminous moons, the series unfolds in a dreamlike landscape where color expresses emotion rather than reality. Each work becomes a state of mind as much as a place.

The titles—The Star Chaser, The Oracle, The Gentle One, The Hypnotist—give each animal a human quality or role, transforming them into archetypal figures that embody ways of inhabiting the world: protecting, listening, dreaming, guiding, or contemplating.

Through Nocturnal Watchers, the night becomes a space of reflection and transformation, where differences dissolve and imagination flourishes. The series celebrates the uniqueness of all living beings and invites us to see nature not as a backdrop, but as a community of presences capable of watching us as closely as we watch them.
