Thandiwe Muriu: Significados Ocultos, 9th Bogotá International Photography Biennial - Museo Santa Clara, Bogota, Colombia
The Museo Colonial and the Museo Santa Clara were part of the ninth edition of the International Biennial of Photographic Photography Bogotá, organized by FotoMuseo - Museo Nacional de la Fotografía, an institution declared a Cultural Good of the city. This edition was held from August 30 to November 11, 2025 with the participation of artists from 16 countries, under the theme “Significados Ocultos”.
The biennial invited reflection on the status of representations in contemporary photography, its uses and strategies of enunciation, and the power of the image as a narrative and critical tool in a world mediated by screens, media and social networks.
In this exhibition, the photographs of Thandiwe Muriu were related to paintings from the Spanish colonial era in Colombia, offering us a dialogue of style through centuries and geographies.
