Overview

The Havana Biennial, from the maturity of its four decades, faithful to its founding assumptions and its decolonizing will, continues to reformulate its discursive assumptions and broaden its outlook. In 2024, the Biennial reached its 40th anniversary, which we celebrated with its 15th edition. We intended to analyze its trajectory, revisit and rethink some of the themes that have characterized it, and create new networks of communication and collaboration.

Hyancinthe Ouattara's installations, as Journey of Existence, extend his research through a plastic vocabulary questioning balance and imbalance. They are also the renewed interpretation of a religious tradition.

"It is also an aspect of my daily life that I try to express in my installations, where I live, the installations are part of my daily life, everywhere there are installations: street vendors, the informal sector, etc."

-- Hyancinthe Ouattara
