Shourouk Rhaiem: Méditerranée, Odyssées Contemporaines, Fondation Villa Datris, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, France

This year, with the exhibition Méditerranée, Odyssées Contemporaines, the Villa Datris Foundation invites you to dive into the soul of this mythical sea in the company of 74 artists from 20 countries.

 

Crossroads of civilizations, the Mediterranean has always been a space where past and present, traditions and modernity coexist. Today more than ever, it crystallizes contemporary issues: climate change, food insecurity, ecological struggles but also social upheavals.

 

In this exhibition, the installation of Shourouk Rhaiem invites us to explore the richness of Mediterranean traditions, the reality of our common roots and the diversity of our cultures. The presented work mobilizes kitchen objects and vintage consumer products from various origins, which she carefully recollects, recomposes and adorns with Swarovski crystals.
