Rob Tucker: Where the Horizon Forgot
For his first exhibition at our Saint-Tropez gallery, New Zealand artist Rob Tucker (b. 1987) presents Where the Horizon Forgot, a vibrant new series of paintings inspired by the Mediterranean and the spirit of the Côte d’Azur.
Tucker has gained international recognition for his bold, playful reinterpretations of still lifes, landscapes, and architecture. His paintings are marked by simplified forms, striking lines, and a palette that shifts between exuberant brightness and gentle pastels. Guided by instinct and expressive mark-making, his works open “windows” onto imagined worlds — places that are at once joyful, contemplative, and deeply human.
In this new body of work, Saint-Tropez becomes both subject and muse. The colorful sails of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the ochre façades of the port, and the iconic bell tower are distilled into radiant compositions that blur the line between memory and dream.
With Where the Horizon Forgot, Tucker transforms familiar horizons into moments of timeless wonder, inviting us to rediscover beauty in its simplest, most essential forms.
