legacies.
Female pharaohs, such as Cleopatra and Nefertiti ruled ancient Egypt.
Queen Nzinga, the warrior queen, commanded an army composed
almost entirely of women and was a fierce barrier against enslavement
of her Congolese people. In Kenya, Chief Wangu defied societal norms,
becoming the only female tribal leader during the fight for independence
in a time when the position was held exclusively by men.
