Women are often the custodians of their family’s water supply, fetching water daily for their sustenance. In Kenya, it is not unusual to see pairs of women walking each morning, containers majestically balanced on their heads. Beyond the rhythms of daily life, women still have an intimate relationship with water. Among women, water and rejuvenation are often synonymous for it is with water many of their rituals of self-care are performed.

Where there is water, a community of replenishment gathers. Around its calming surface, women find release, connecting with friends and strengthening relationships; stories are told, burdens shared, dreams voiced and memories traded.

For a woman, water goes beyond a chore; it is a vital point of connection to her community of sisters.
