Zeit, meaning “oil” in Arabic, refers both to the widespread use of oil as a remedy for a range of ailments and to the oral transmission of care practices and rituals. The series presents skin oil packaging, reworked and screen-printed onto hair itself.
This work shows an oil packaging labeled “Oil Snack,” the result of a mistranslation. This error exposes a lack of clear control in the import-export circulation of the product and limited ingredient transparency, highlighting broader systemic contradictions and echoing global flows in which goods and migration are intertwined.
