In this new series of works, Andy Dixon explores the concept of painted collage, drawing inspiration from the traditions of pop art. Set against abstract backgrounds reminiscent of color field painting, Dixon combines references to art objects with elements of Californian culture, such as palm trees and scenes of people engaged in luxury sports like golf, skiing, and tennis. This vibrant interplay of historical and contemporary motifs creates a dynamic conversation, inviting viewers to reflect on the relationship between art and cultural value.
