Kyotographie, a Japanese photo festival worthy of a French success story

In the spring of 2013, the weather was nice in Kyoto. A small group of artists, photography enthusiasts and image adventurers came together for the first time around a crazy project called Kyotographie. Click? The immediate sound association with its theme, photography.

 

"Every year, depending on the preselected artists, we go see our partners having anticipated the project that suits them best; we try to make relevant “weddings” that make sense for them and for us", explains Lucille Reyboz whose communicative energy bluffs the great marketing pros. In fact, after Chanel, the companion of the beginnings who is supporting this year’s Linder Sterling retrospective at the Nexus Hall, came the Dior houses (Lebohang Kganye, South African queen with immaculate scenography in the outbuildings of the Higashi Hongan-ji Buddhist temple), Van Cleef & Arpels (Juliette Agnel as close as possible to the tatami in the traditional house of the Koudoukan Yuuhisai), Agnès B (Anton Corbijn and the music stars in the labyrinth invented at the heart of the Shimadaï Gallery Kyoto, a former sake brewery dating from the 18th century) or Longchamp (The Kenyan Thandiwe Muriu in the smooth and silky spaces of Kondaya Genbei, high place of the ceremonial obi).
